How Chuw explains your food
From a camera scan to a personalized explanation, see how Chuw turns food labels and meals into clear, practical insight.
Tailored to your goals, never prescriptive
Nutrition is personal. Choose a focus in Chuw and the explanation will highlight what matters to you. Chuw never tells you what you should or should not eat — it gives you relevant context and leaves the choice with you.

- The reasoning behind the score
Scan your food — barcode or not
Chuw goes beyond the barcode. Point your camera at nutrition labels, prepared meals, recipes, or fresh produce:
Nutrition & ingredient labels
Reads detailed nutrition and ingredient information.
Plated meals & recipes
Recognizes home-cooked meals, restaurant dishes, and recipes.
Fresh produce
Recognizes fresh, whole foods without labels or packaging.
The score is an entry point, not a verdict
A single number can help you compare options, but the explanation matters more. Every Chuw result follows the same clear order, so you can see the full picture:
- 1What this food offers: two or three specific, evidence-based strengths.
- 2Worth noticing: practical trade-offs, explained clearly and without alarm.
- 3What shaped the score: the main factors behind the result.
- 4What this means for your focus: how the food fits what matters to you.
- 5Your choice: options to compare, save, or adjust — you stay in control.

Built on curiosity, evidence, and privacy
Chuw is made for everyday questions about food. It is clear about what it knows, honest about uncertainty, respectful of your choices, and careful with your data.
- No fear or drama: we don't use labels like "toxic," "clean," or "bad." Food is confusing enough without scare tactics.
- Honest about limitations: if a label is incomplete or a scan is uncertain, Chuw says so clearly.
- Wellness, not prescriptions: Chuw helps with everyday food choices and leaves the decision with you.
Methodology and limitations
The Chuw Score combines declared nutrition values, ingredients, and processing signals through a versioned scoring model. AI helps read and explain the evidence; deterministic rules calculate the score and may leave unclear values estimated or unknown. The displayed score uses a 0–100 scale, with a gold ring when the underlying result earns more than 100. The score is a wellness heuristic, not a clinically validated measurement.
